Reports of Drink Spiking in Midsomer Norton High Street.

We have received a small number of reports relating to potential drink spiking in Midsomer Norton High Street. We would urge the public not to be concerned but just to be aware of the potential and stay safe. We would also ask that any incidents are reported to the police for investigation and our awareness to direct resources.

    This action will be closed pending any further calls. This may be raised again prior to the Christmas period when the potential for this type of offence may increase.

    We encourage people to report any incidents firstly to the venues, who should have testing kits, and then to the police if they experience a suspected spiking.

    Although reports have significantly decreased relating to spiking of drinks in Midsomer Norton, as summer is arriving and the night-time economy picks up, we will keep this as a priority and continue to assist our local venues with advice, awareness and resources to help combat these offences.

    We encourage people to report any incidents firstly to the venues, who should have testing kits, and then to the police if they experience a suspected spiking.

    The Neighbourhood Team have visited venues in Midsomer Norton High Street again this month to provide advice and anti-spiking resources. The team have also been out on the High Street providing advice and freebies to members of the public.

    Reports of spiking have seemed to have decreased. This priority will remain for now.

    We encourage people to report any incidents firstly to the venues, who should have testing kits, and then to the police if they experience a suspected spiking.

    The Midsomer Norton Team have visited most venues in the High Street area again in the past month and given out resources to pubs and bars to help combat drink spiking. All venues the Midsomer Norton Team are working with have been very positive and proactive in utilising the information and resources we have given them.

    Anti-spiking freebies have also been given out to members of the public again in the High Street.

    We encourage anyone suspecting that their drink has been spiked, or anyone who has any information about drink spiking in the Midsomer Norton area, to report it to the local police.

    The Midsomer Norton Team have visited most venues in the High Street to give words of advice to business owners. We have also delivered anti-spiking resources to many venues including drink toppers and testing kits for the bars. The response from the business owners has been very positive.

    The Midsomer Norton Team have also parked the community contact vehicle up in the High Street around the Christmas period and gave out advice and drink toppers to people out in town.
