Anti-Social Behaviour – ASHAM WOODS

There have been multiple reports of off-road motorbikes that are behaving in an anti -social manner along the bridal paths in Asham Woods. The presence of these motorbikes has caused alarm and distress and especially to the Horse riders who use the area.

The land is private and owned by Hansen Quarries and therefore any unauthorised access on the land should be reported to them directly for trespassing purposes. However, when a vehicle is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress, or annoyance to members of the public, this contravenes Police Reform Act 2002 and should be reported to the police on 999 or 101 accordingly.

The Neighbourhood Police Team have been consulting with staff at Asham Quarry and conducted a recent site visit to discuss further security measures.
A problem-solving document has been created to identify the motocross riders, issue Section 59 warnings where applicable and work in partnership with the quarry to increase security and deter further trespassing.

  • 12 March 2025

Recently Officers attended the location in collaboration with a Drone Unit and successfully located some of the involved individuals who were subsequently issued Section 59 warnings. If the same bikes or riders are caught engaging in the same ASB within 12 months of receiving the warning, their bikes will be seized.

Additional police patrols of the area will be conducted to provide a visible presence.
