Request a housing disclosure

All major social housing providers within the Avon and Somerset force area can request a housing disclosure to help alleviate crime and anti-social behaviour.

This is part of an information-sharing agreement, in which both Avon and Somerset Police and housing providers support the principles of community safety relating to social housing issues.

Where there is evidence of a clear breach of tenancy or when joint action fails to resolve the issue, the housing provider can request information to be used within civil proceedings.

Disclosure process

If you work for a housing provider and would like to make a request to disclose information about a tenant, occupier, or visitor to the tenancy address, this is what you can expect.

  1. Step 1 : Before you apply

The housing provider must have signed both tiers of the information sharing agreement.

Then, make sure you have details of:

    • individuals subject to the request
    • tenancy address
    • lengths of tenancy
    • timescales covered by the request
    • background to the request

  2. Step 2 : How to apply

Housing providers in Avon and Somerset can use this online form to request a housing disclosure.

  3. Step 3 : After to you apply

Once you have made your request, the submission will be processed by the Neighbourhood Policing Team that covers the tenancy address.

They will make disclosures where either:

    • there is evidence of convictions, cautions or Penalty Notice for Disorder for
offences committed in the accommodation or the immediate vicinity, that are
within the timescales set within the application
    • there is evidence of ‘positive police action’ or behaviour evidenced by police
      officers
    • police proceedings have not yet been completed, or where no further action
results from police attendance, the police may disclose limited ‘statements of
fact’ which relate to the incident for the consideration of the civil court
