Outreach Team

Avon and Somerset Police is committed to becoming the most diverse police service in the UK and welcomes applications from all communities.

Our Outreach Team challenges and transforms our recruitment process to identify barriers and offer support to potential candidates from under-represented communities.

The team does this by:

  • reshaping perceptions of policing as a career choice among minority groups
  • increasing the diversity of applicants across all protected groups
  • encouraging individuals to explore and pursue careers in policing
  • supporting candidates with the recruitment process
  • offering guidance through our Positive Action programme, which helps new employees succeed

Mission statement

  • Actively support and recruit under-represented groups into policing roles through targeted Positive Action initiatives.
  • Raise awareness of policing careers by identifying and addressing barriers within our recruitment processes.
  • Enhance the perception and accessibility of police careers, making them more inclusive for diverse communities.
  • Build stronger engagement and connections with our diverse populations, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.
