Domestic abuse procedure
We adhere to the statutory definition of Domestic Abuse within the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
This definition can be broken down into three key areas:
- Both victim and perpetrator are aged 16 or over
- They are personally connected to one another, such as a current or ex-spouse or intimate partner, relative, or shared parental responsibility for a child
- The behaviour of one person towards another is abusive, for example physical or sexual abuse, violent or threatening behaviour, controlling or coercive behaviour, economic abuse, psychological, emotional, or other abuse
