We adhere to the statutory definition of Domestic Abuse within the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

This definition can be broken down into three key areas:

  1. Both victim and perpetrator are aged 16 or over
  2. They are personally connected to one another, such as a current or ex-spouse or intimate partner, relative, or shared parental responsibility for a child
  3. The behaviour of one person towards another is abusive, for example physical or sexual abuse, violent or threatening behaviour, controlling or coercive behaviour, economic abuse, psychological, emotional, or other abuse
